The API and the IEEE sync engine, the two binaries behind every lookup, are licensed for your own infrastructure. Install them and every lookup stays there: no third-party API in the request path, no per-query billing, no rate limits but your own hardware's. The public website stays ours to run; this license is for teams building their own tooling on top of the API.

Our sync service pulls IEEE's own registries on a recurring schedule. A lot of lookup tools ship a database someone downloaded once, years ago, and never touched again.
